February is the month of love and arguably the first real month of the year, January doesn’t count, right? It is the month that starts to show the first glimmers of life and the promise that spring is on the way!
For me, the main theme of February was renewal. I banished a lot of old energy by cleaning and getting rid of old energy that wasn’t serving me anymore and welcoming new energy.
In February, I tidied my shelves and drawers as an early spring cleaning to make room for my new desk. As I was cleaning I found a box filled with some of my crochet accessories that I made back when I ran an online shop. I found these adorable little gingerbread earrings, that I don’t remember making! Despite my crochet shop miserably failing, I adore my crochet items. I’m proud of everything I crochet because I know they look well made and if I weren’t the one making them I would truly purchase what I made. I’m currently trying to get rid of my crochet items that I made in the past so if you would like to adopt any of my crochet babies you can buy them here.
As I was clearing out my old desk, I found this strawberry vase/plant holder hidden under a bunch of stuff. It now stores my daily yoga mat!
One of my goals this year is to practice piano and guitar regularly. I took out my old electric guitar (it’s pink and sparkly!) and gave it a proper clean, changed the strings, and tuned it. I also found my dad’s old guitar pick that he gave me when I first attempted to play this guitar 14-15 years ago! I’m tempted to cover the front of the guitar with stickers because that’s what I do with everything! haha
In terms of practice, I’ve been using videos via YouTube and improving my finger dexterity. I’m always so bad at knowing what to study with things like instruments and languages so YouTube videos have been my best learning tool.
I gave my old piano bench (that I use as a keyboard bench) a much-needed makeover. Now, that I have a new desk and chair I can finally use this bench for its intended use, as a piano bench! However, I decided to give it a cute transformation because it just looked so dull. First, I painted the bench white. Then, I crocheted a seat cover using some pink, white, and purple yarn then added a ruffle trim and some pink bows to each corner. I have a video on the piano bench makeover and a crochet bow tutorial over on my TikTok. I absolutely LOVED how it came out! Every time I pass by this bench I smile at myself knowing that I was the one who made it cute. I should’ve made over this bench years ago!
A sneak peek at my desk area! I’ll share a full desk tour post when I’m happy with my desk setup but I thought I would share some pictures because I feel like I keep mentioning my desk area without sharing what it looks. I ordered a cute pink heart 3-drawer monitor stand that I’ve been using for storage and to keep a desk organizer on. This stand also came with these little elephants that you can use to prop up anything like a pair of glasses or a phone but I’ve been using it as a way to display my daily tarot card. haha
We went over to my older sister’s house for our Galentine’s Day celebration. We ate heart-shaped ravioli and macarons and played an astrology card game. It was nice. My younger sister also gifted me a Hello Kitty squishmallow and a matching iced tumbler cup with Sanrio charaters all over the cup, it’s cute but doesn’t photograph well so I don’t have any pictures of it to share. haha
On Valentine’s Day, we had a mini pizza party to celebrate the holiday of love! My mom made a delicious tiramisu and my dad brought home some flower bouquets and some chocolate strawberries for us. I baked some oatmeal teddy bear cookies and tried to decorate them in red and pink for the day but they looked more like bloody Valentine cookies which is kind of adorable! The whole day was cute. Even as a single person, I love how cute of a holiday Valentine’s Day is!
I upgrade from an iPhone 11 to an iPhone 15 Plus in February! The storage in my old phone kept getting full so it was time for a new phone. I’m not a fan of the new charging cable because I can’t charge my iPad or Airpods in the new port which is slightly annoying. But, I’m glad I have more storage now so I can film more videos on my phone for my TikTok and my Youtube channel.
Some of my creative bullet journal pages. I shared a post on some of my previous journal pages on my blog not too long ago. This time, I decided to try a new spread for the books I read in February. I felt like I wasn’t utilizing the space well in my last ‘What I read in a month’ page so I tried this setup. We will see how it goes.
On February 20th, it was my sweet pom baby's birthday! Lucy turned 10 this year! To honor her milestone birthday I wrote this blog post about her. I bathed her in her birthday suit the day before so she could be ready for whatever her 10s bring her! Her before and after post-bathing pictures crack me up!
I crocheted this cute buttered toast cozy for my Airpods recently. I used this mini bread slice crochet pattern that I published a few years ago if you want to make one for yourselves. I just crocheted two slices sewed around the sides and left enough space for the Airpods to come in and out easily. I have a YouTube tutorial on how to make the bread slice if you’re more of a visual person.
It’s been therapeutic for me to crochet for myself rather than others again. Back when I first started crocheting it was because I wanted to create cute and unconventional things and then I decided to open a shop to share my creations with others but after failing with my shop (more than once) I stopped enjoying crocheting because I associated it with failure. However, since making things for myself I’ve been loving crochet again! Maybe I’ll write a full post about this one day. Let me know if you’d be interested.
